Maria Goeppert-Mayer

Maria Goeppert-Mayer (* 28. Juni 1906 in Kattowitz; † 20. Februar 1972 in San Diego/Kalifornien) war eine amerikanische Physikerin.

Goeppert-Mayer erhielt 1963 zusammen mit J. Hans D. Jensen den Physik-Nobelpreis »für ihre Entdeckung der nuklearenen Schalenstruktur«.
