Geschichte der Band

Nur Anthony Kiedis und Michael 'Flea' Balzary waren von Anfang an Mitglieder der Peppers, seit "Mother's Milk" sind Chad Smith und (mit einer kleinen Unterbrechung )John Frusciante mit dabei. Am häufigsten wechselte die Band die Gitarristen, so starb Gründungsmitglied Hillel Slovac an einer Überdosis Heroin und wurde schließlich durch den erst 18 Jährigen John Frusciante (einem großen Fan) ersetzt. Nach ihrem sehr erfolgreichen Album Blood Sugar Sex Magik begann John jedoch eine ausgedehnte Drogenkarriere. Er veröffentlichte einige Soloplatten (z.b. To record only ten days of water) und kam (clean) zu Californication (1999) wieder zur Band.
