Morrison wurde bekannt als Gründer und Frontmann der Rockband Them, die eine Reihe von Hits hatte, u.a. Gloria. Einer seiner bekanntesten Songs als Solokünstler dürfte Brown-Eyed Girl sein.

1990 nahm er zusammen mit vielen Musikerkollegen an Roger Waters’ Aufführung The Wall in Berlin teil.
