Abimael Guzmán (also known as Chairman Gonzalo) was the leader of the Shining Pathmaoistguerrilla movement in Peru. Guzmán was captured in September 1992 and sentenced to life imprisonment. He is currently incarcerated in the San Lorenzo Island naval base.
