Anti-Flag

Anti-Flag is a punk rock/hardcore punk band formed in Pittsburgh during 1993. In 1994, they signed to the New Red Archives label for their first album, Die For The Government, releasing it on September 12, 1995. In 1996-1997, they signed to A-F Records, who released the rest of their albums.

Anti-Flag's music is comprised of a vast array of left-wing political ideals, and takes a strong stand against fascism, organized religion, and nationalism. Politically, Anti-Flag is comparable to LA's leftist Rage Against The Machine. One of the few bands boycotted after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Anti-Flag's calls for unification and peace after the attacks were unpopular. The band was soon labeled as "unpatriotic" and "un-American" by many, but Anti-Flag's resolve only hardened.
