Arbusto Energy

Arbusto Energy (Arbusto Oil) was a petroleum and energy corporation formed in Midland, Texas, in 1977, by George W. Bush, with the financial assistance of investors, including a friend named James R. Bath. Other investors were Khalid bin Mahfouz, Ghaith Pharaon, and John Connally.

Arbusto is Spanish for "shrub", but the Bush family interpreted it as "bush". Arbusto later became known as Bush Exploration, when George H. W. Bush became vice president. As it neared financial collapse in September 1984, it was merged with Spectrum 7 Energy Corp., a company owned by William DeWitt and Mercer Reynolds. Spectrum later merged with Harken Energy in 1986.
