Arthur Valerian Wellesley, 8th Duke of Wellington
Arthur Valerian Wellesley, 8th Duke of Wellington, the first Duke's great-great grandson, was born 2 July 1915 in Rome. From 1943 to 1972, when he succeeded his father as Duke of Wellington, he was known as Marquess of Douro. In 1990 he was made a Knight of the Garter.
