Asahi, Yamagata (Murayama)

Asahi is a town located in the Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. The town belongs to the Nishi-murayama District. The town has no special relationship with another Asahi in the same prefecture.

Asahi literally means "morning sun". The town is named after Asahi Mountains, which shines bright in the morning light.

The town was established in 1954 by merging Miyajuku, Oya, and Nishi-imogawa villages.
