Avian veterinarian
An avian veterinarian is a veterinarian who has undertaken additional training that qualifies him or her to treat birds. Birds are very different in anatomy and physiology to dogs and cats, and to specialize in their treatment, a veterinary student must seek out coursework and residencies that are beyond the scope of standard veterinary school.
Avian veterinarians are certified by groups such as The Asssociation of Avian Veterinarians.
