Big Tex

Big Tex is the 52 foot high symbol of the annual State Fair of Texas in Dallas, Texas. He wears size 70 boots, a 75 gallon hat, a huge plaid shirt and equally huge pair of Lee jeans.

Big Tex's humble beginnings were in 1949 as a 49 foot tall Santa Claus in Kerens, Texas to help encourage sales in the area. In 1951, the components were purchased and transformed into a cowboy, and Big Tex was born. Big Tex made his grand debut at the 1952 fair.
