Bridge of Weir

Bridge of Weir is a small village located to the west of Scotland's largest and most heavily populated city, Glasgow. Historically, its biggest industry was leather, and at its productivity peak the small village supported three individual leather works, or 'tanneries'.

Nowadays, Bridge of Weir represents little more than a commuter haven, and has achieved a reputation of affluence along lines similar to Bearsden in the north of Glasgow and Newton Mearns in the South.

Recent times have seen a number of prominent Scottish-based footballers settle in Bridge of Weir and the surrounding area, and nearby public house 'The Fox and Hounds' has achieved notoriety on a number of occasions due to various acts of drink fuelled madness from some of the lesser denizens of the Scottish game.
