Cape York

Cape York is a long cape that juts out from the Australian state of Queensland, forming the northernmost point of Australia. Prominent towns that are located on the Cape include Cairns, Port Douglas and Weipa. Cape York is known for extremely high temperatures; in summer, it is not uncommon for the temperature in Cairns to reach up to 40 degrees Celcius (100 degrees Fahrenheit). The main road going all the way to the Tip, as the northern extremity of Cape York is known, is called the Telegraph Track.
