Carnie Wilson

Carnie Wilson (born April 29, 1968) is the first daughter of American 60s pop icon Brian Wilson. She and her sister, Wendy, have been friends with Chynna Phillips, daughter of The Mamas & the Papas John and Michelle Phillips, since infancy.

Along with her sister and Chynna Phillips, she co-founded the popular singing group Wilson Phillips. The group had a hit single with the song "Hold On" and had a few other minor successes. The band eventually broke up, but all three members remain friends.

In the 1990s she became a successful television talk show host, has recorded solo album, and with younger sister Wendy has toured with Al Jardine's band after the effective break-up of the Beach Boys.

Like Cass Elliott of The Mamas & the Papas, Wilson had had trouble with excessive weight most of her adult life. Dieting was ineffective—she would lose weight just to regain it later. She eventually underwent gastric bypass surgery which she felt was a life-saving decision. Due to the surgery and regular exercise, her weight is now under control. She toured TV talk shows publicising her success with the procedure.
