Cephalotaxus Amentotaxus Torreya |
The Cepahlotaxaceae is a small family of conifers, with three genera and about 20 species, closely allied to Taxaceae, and included in that family by some botanists. They are restricted to the east of Asia, except for two species of Torreya, in the southwest and southeast of the USA. They differ from the Taxaceae in having larger seeds (over 10 mm long) which are completely enclosed in a fleshy coat (small seeds only partly enclosed in a fleshy covering in Taxaceae).
