She was the back-up cosmonaut for a Spring 1992 trip to Mir in which her husband Jean-Pierre Haigneré participated.

She stayed 16 days in Mir in 1996, for the Russian-French Cassiopée mission.

Claudie was the first European woman to visit the International Space Station ISS in 2001

She is now minister delegate for research and new technologies in Jacques Chirac's government.
