Color depth

Color depth is a term used to describe the number of bits used to create the color of a single pixel.

Color depth examples are 1-bit (black *or* white) 8-bit color uses 8 ones and zeroes to create a color. This is a limited color pallet. 16-bit uses 16 ones and zeros to create life-like colors.
