In his career Grant notched 263 goals and 535 points while playing for the Montreal Canadians, Minnesota North Stars, Detroit Red Wings and the Los Angeles Kings. Grant enjoyed his best season with the Red wings in 1974-1975 when he scored 50 goals.

After retiring as a player Grant coached the University of New Brunswick hockey team for two seasons in the mid-1990's.
