The DESY (Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron, "German Electron Synchrotron") is a major European center for particle physics and synchrotron radiation research. Its two main locations are Hamburg and Zeuthen; financing is mostly done by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
