Douglas Island

Douglas Island is an island just west of Juneau, Alaska, slightly north of Admiralty Cove. It is seperated from mainland Juneau by the Gastineau channel, over which there is a single bridge. Recently, there have been plans to build a new bridge from North Douglas to the Mendenhall Valley.

Douglas Island has many interesting features:

Douglas is usually thought of as two areas:
  1. Downtown Douglas Island
    1. Sandy Beach
    2. Mines
    3. Douglas Public Library
    4. Bridge to Juneau
  2. North Douglas Island
    1. Eaglecrest Ski Area
    2. A heliport
