Downs
Downs are hills, especially the treeless uplands of the South of England, or the Devonshire Downs fairgrounds of the once paradisiacal San Fernando Valley in southern California, USA.
Downs are akin to the word dune, and have no kinship to the word down, roughly meaning "lower."
