The title Earl Brooke of Warwick Castle was created in 1746 for Francis Greville, who already held the title of Baron Brooke of Beauchamps Court (created 1621). In 1759, the Earl Brooke was made Earl of Warwick. This creation was the fourth creation of the Earldom of Warwick; earlier that year, the third creation ended in extinction. The Earldom of Warwick and Warwick Castle were therefore united under one holder for the first time in centuries.
