Edward Felten

Edward Felten (b. 1964?) is a professor of computer science at Princeton University. Prof. Felten has done a variety of computer security research, including groundbreaking work on proof-carrying authentication but he is perhaps best known for his paper on the SDMI challenge, because the RIAA threatened to sue him under the DMCA if he presented his research. After legal threats from the EFF, the RIAA backed off, but Felten went on to spend more time on technology policy, including starting the Freedom to Tinker weblog and testifying before Congress on copyright issues.
