Eric Gairy

Eric Gairy (1920-1997) was a Grenada politician. He founded the Grenada Labour Party in 1950, and served as Chief Minister from 1954 to 1960. He became the first Prime Minister of Grenada from 1967. His rule became increasingly paranoid and in 1979 was overthrown by Maurice Bishop.
