The Electricity Supply Board is responsible for generating most of the electrical power in Ireland. There is no nuclear element, but water power is used at Ardnacrusha, a hydroelectric plant on the River Shannon and Turlough Hill, a prepared hill-top reservoir with pumping and generating capability.
