While the fictional team operated in the United Kingdom, its stories were produced not by Marvel UK but rather by the central (New York-based) Marvel studios. Initially it was an even mix of both X-Men and Captain Britain concepts, drawing upon concepts from both series. During its later years it received a greater percentage of X-Men concepts.
Many of its adventures involved cross-dimensional travel, mainly because a number of Marvel UK writers (most notably Alan Moore) had established that Captain Britain is but one of a number of similar superbeings from other dimensions and that one of his main roles is guarding the lighthouse that is placed at the convergence with those other realities.
