Firelord

Firelord is a character in the Marvel Comics Universe most closely intertwined with the comic series The Silver Surfer. Originally a starship captin named Pyreus Kril, he was given the Cosmic Power by Galactus when he agreed to become his herald. The most common manifestation of these powers is the ability to shoot and control flame through his Bo Staff. He is capable of interstellar travel under his own power and is immune to the hazards of space. With the Power Cosmic comes a myriad of other abilities, but these seem to be dormant at this time.

Much of Pyreus's past is a mystery. He is thought to be an orphan, but that is not known yet. What we do know is that he did go through the Xandarian Nova Corps, and graduated with command level status. Pyreus was serving aboard a Xandarian ship under the command of Gabriel Lann, who became Airwalker when Galactus abducted him. Gabriel and Pyreus had become very good friends during their tour and Pyreus was extremely upset at Gabriels abduction. Pyreus was second in command and proceeded to look for Gabriel to find out what exactly happened to him. By the time Pyreus caught up with Galactus, Gabriel had already been killed. Galactus would only tell Pyreus Gabriels fate after Pyreus agreed to serve him for a time. Pyreus, of course agreed, and Firelord was born. He served Galactus for a time until he became restless and asked for his freedom. Galactus agreed if he could find him another herald. Firelord then went to earth and Thor offered him the lifeless Destroyer to give Galactus. With that he was free. His appearances since then have far and few between.
