Flint and steel fire

One of the oldest methods for making fire and the method in most common use until the invention of the match in 1826.

The ingredients needed to make a flint and steel fire are:

Flint and Steel (to be struck together to make sparks).

Char (cloth or other material, such as punkwood, which has been charred and will be able to catch the sparks more easily and begin to smoulder and smoke).

Tinder to catch a light from the char.

Wood to burn once the tinder is aflame.
