Frank Church

Frank Forrester Church (25 July 1924 - 7 April 1984) was a four-term U.S. Senator (1956-1980) from the Democratic Party, having been raised and serving from Boise, Idaho.

Senator Church graduated from Stanford University, interrupted with a tour of Burma in World War II. He gained fame during his service in the Senate by the so-called Church committees, which investigated CIA and FBI unconstitutional intelligence-gathering. He tried to attain the Dem nomination in 1976, but ceded to Jimmy Carter, who was elected.
