Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John Michael Tebelak, based on the Gospel of Saint Matthew. It opened off-Broadway on May 151971.
The presentation of the story is not entirely realist, and productions of the musical often set it in places and times other than the obvious (one notable production was set in a circus).
