The Hakim features the proven and very strong tipping bolt system like the FN49, Russian SKS and French MAS56 rifles. Available in 8mm Mauser caliber (192 grain bullet) only, it is a finely machined (expensive to produce), sturdy semi-automatic rifle of the highest quality. The Hakim has a removable 10 round magazine intended to be reloaded with 5 round stripper clips (8mm Mauser), a leather sling and detachable bayonet. It was replaced in the 1960's by the Soviet AK47 but was kept in military reserve.
The Rasheed in 7.62X39mm (also manufactured in Egypt) is a scaled down version of the Hakim.
Only about 8000 Rasheeds were produced, making it a very rare rifle indeed. A Hakim in excellent condition ranges in value from $350 to $500. The Rasheed $400 to $600 (2004). Ron A. Winzenreid.
