Hatchetfish

The name hatchetfish may refer to two unrelated groups of fish:

• Marine hatchetfish, small deep-sea bioluminescent fish (Stomiiformes) of the family Sternoptychidae, subfamily Sternoptychinae.

• Freshwater hatchetfish, tropical characinss of the large family Gasteropelecidae.
