Heliconia

Heliconia
Scientific classification
Kingdom:Plantae
Division:Magnoliophyta
Class:monocotyledons
Order:Zingiberales
Family: Heliconaceae
Genus: Heliconia

Native to the tropical Americas and the Western Pacific, the Heliconia's color combination — purple-blue fruit, copper banana-like leaves, and an ivory or pink midriff — is seen in few other flowers. The H. Psitlacorum heliconia flower is especially distinctive, for its greenish-yellow flowers and black spots bear a remarkable resemblance to a parrot's feathers.
