House of Sand and Fog

House of Sand and Fog is a 2003 movie adapted by Vadim Perelman and Shawn Otto from the novel by Andre Dubus III. It was directed by Vadim Perelma. The movie stars Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

An Iranian immigrant (Kingsley) buys a house at auction, which puts him in conflict with the house's previous owner (Connelly).

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score (James Horner), Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Ben Kingsley) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Shohreh Aghdashloo).
