The Human Rights Campaign, an organization founded in 1980, works for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equal rights. It is the largest lesbian and gay political organization in the United States. Until recently (when?) it was headed by Elizabeth Birch; Cheryl Jacques is the present executive director.
