Intibucá, Honduras

Intibucá is a department in Honduras. The department capital is the town of La Esperanza. In 2001 it had a population of about 180,000 people.

History

Intibucá was formed in 1883; it was formerly part of Gracias Department. According to the 1895 census, it had a population of 18,957 in that year.
