Rubin and associate Earl Krugel were arrested in California in 2001 and charged with conspiring to bomb a Culver City mosque, as well as the offices of Lebanese-American congressman Darrell Issa. In November 2002, while in prison in Los Angeles, he cut his wrists with small razors and jumped off a balcony, killing himself. On February 4, 2003, Krugel pled guilty to conspiracy charges stemming from the plot.
