Hong Kong consists of a peninsula and 236 islands, including:

• Ap Lei Chau, part of the Southern district
• Hong Kong Island, which is not part of the Island district, but contains four districts itself
• Kellett Island, a former island, now part of Causeway Bay as a result of gradual land reclamation
• Stonecutter's Island, a former island, now part of the Kowloon peninsula, following land reclamation
• Tsing Yi, part of Kwai Tsing district

• Kau Sai Chau
• Kiu Tsui Chau (Sharp Island)

Hong Kong Island and Lantau Island are connected to the mainland with bridges and tunnels.

The outlying islands are notable for a more relaxed and green way of life than that of Hong Kong island and Kowloon Peninsula.
