Jaredite

In the Book of Mormon, specifically the Book of Ether, the Jaredites were the descendants of Jared. Jared fled with his family from the Tower of Babel shortly after it was destroyed, and God led them across the sea to The Americas. But after many years, they were destroyed because of their wickedness.

The account of the Jaredites fell into the hands of the Nephites hundreds of years later, and the Nephites translated them into their own tongue. Today the account can be found in the Book of Ether, and is written by Moroni.
