John Sell Cotman

John Sell Cotman (1782 - 1842) was a painter of the Norwich School and an associate of John Crome. He was born in Norwich and worked mainly in watercolour, but also produced architectural engravings. He spent virtually all his life in Norfolk, apart from three trips to Normandy financed by rich patrons.

His sons, Miles Edward Cotman and John Joseph Cotman, also became painters of note.
