John Squire

John Squire was a British rock musician who played electric guitar for his band, the Stone Roses. Born in Manchester, England, he began playing guitar at the age of 15 and formed his first band in 1982, then calling it the Waterfront. Eventually, the name was changed, first to the Patrol and then to the Stone Roses in March of 1984. Besides being a guitarist, Squire was also a noted artist whose style has been compared to that of Jackson Pollock; his artwork decorated the front of the band's albums. Squire's use of cocaine in the 1990s contributed to the breakup of the Stone Roses in 1996. In 2002, Squire came out with a solo album, entitled Time Changes Everything.
