Kanata is part of the west side of the municipality of Ottawa Canada.

Location

Latitude of 45 degrees 18" North and a longitude of 75 degrees 55" West, and an area of 139 square kilometers.

Notable buildings and institutions

Kanata is the site of the Corel_Centre, home arena of the Ottawa_Senators of the National Hockey League.

Primary industries

Kanata is home to many of the major high-tech employers of Ottawa, such as Alcatel, cisco, HP, March Networks, and Mitel. The high-tech industry clusters along March Road, in the Kanata North Business Park, and along Eagleson Road, in the Kanata South Business Park.

Sports

Kanata has a professional sports team, the Ottawa_Senators of the National Hockey League.

History

Kanata was incorporated in 1967 out of the Township of March.

Kanata has a historic site, Pinhey's Point.

DEC was one of the pioneer technology companies in Kanata. The DEC campus has been successively Digital, Compaq, and is now HP.

In 2001, Kanata was amalgamated into Ottawa.
