Lijiang City

Lijiang is a ancient city in northeast Yunnan Province, in China.

This 3.8 square kilometre city, encirceled by green moutains and filled with crystal-clear lakes, and has a history going back more than 800 years. Lijiang is famous for its interveaving of water. For the orderly water system and so many bridges,the city is called the "Venice of the East".

The old town of Lijiang is different from any other ancient Chinese capital cities because of the unique buildings structures and the special culture and history of the most residents - Naxi people.

For the natural and humanistic sights, Lijiang was registered on the UNESCO's World Heritage List on December 4, 1997.
