Raise in Dallas, Texas, she received a degree in comparitive literature from Brown University and attended one semester at Berklee College of Music.
She says the following of her latest album, Hello Lisa, "Though I wrote many of the songs myself, this record is ultimately a collaborative effort. I wanted to write, produce and play with as many people as possible to bring a sense of diversity to the project. I co-produced the album, so there is a strong connection in all the songs."
She recently released an children's album with Elizabeth Mitchell entitled Catch the Moon.
On January 16, 2004, her television show Dweezil & Lisa first aired on Food Network. She stars with Dweezil Zappa, who she has been dating for a few years.
