Louisiana Tech University, located in Ruston, Louisiana, is a full fledged university with an average 12,000 - 14,000 students each year. First instituted as Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1894, it is perhaps best known now for its engineering program and its women's athletics. Its men's sports teams are known as Bulldogs; the women are called Lady Techsters. Famous alumni include Terry Bradshaw, Karl Malone, and Kix Brooks.
