Lund University, established in 1666 is one of Sweden's largest, although the city is relatively small. As of 2004, the city has around 60,000 inhabitants (not counting those living in the villages that belong to the municipality) and the university has 34,000 students, though not all students actually live in Lund.
Lund is also home to the Tetra Pak company that markets paper packaging machinery for milk and orange juice all over the world. Ericsson develops cell phone handsets in Lund. Other important industries include pharmaceuticals, electronics, and publishing and library services.
