Mark Ricciuto

Mark Ricciuto (b. 1975) is a prominent Australian rules footballer in the AFL. He was born on June 8th 1975 in Waikerie, South Australia and quickly rose to prominence in local teams. Ricciuto is well-known for his good humoured "larrikinism" and, along with Adelaide Crows coach Gary Ayres, is one of the most prominent sportspeople in South Australia.

He was recruited by SANFL team West Adelaide and soon after the Adelaide Crows recruited Ricciuto as a rookie. He debuted in the AFL in 1993.

Ricciuto quickly came to be considered one of the best modern players in the competition. He was the AFL Rising Star for 1993 and achieved All-Australian selection in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003 and was in the Adelaide Crows 1998 premiership team and 2003 Wizard Cup winning team. In 2003, he won the Brownlow Medal and he has captained the Adelaide Crows since 2001.
