Attractions in the town include the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park, the Derbyshire Mining Museum a petrifying well and an aquarium. The town is also known as a meeting point for motorcyclists.
Both Matlock and Matlock Bath are on a rail line to Derby. The Peak Railway runs trains from Matlock to Darley Dale and Rowsley.
Matlock lies at the south eastern edge of the Peak District and tourism is important to the town. There is a large Victorian park next to the river in Matlock which boasts a miniature railway, bandstand and a boating pond with the oldest running powered boats in Britain.
