Mehmet Ali Talat is the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He is leader of the moderate Republican Turkish Party, and is in favour of reunification with the Republic of Cyprus on the south of the island, in order that Cyprus may join the European Union as a united island. He was appointed in 2004.
