Military police (MPs) are the police of a militaryorganization, they generally concern themselves with law enforcement and security. These soldiers are generally not combat troops, but are sometimes used as infantry; usually in a defensive role. Like medical troops, the status of military police is usually prominently displayed; on the helmet and/or with an armband. Military police are not protected under the war crime legislation which protects medical troops. Military forces tend to maintain separate prisons and judicial systems than civilianentities; the military also has a separate view of criminal justice.
