In her films as well as a wide range of roles on British television and in radio drama she shows herself as a current actress that can act. She possesses an extraordinary ability to become anyone, and to play a role which is whole in itself. She received Oscar nominations on two occasions, for her performance in 1992's Damage (Best Supporting Actress) and 1994's Tom and Viv (Best Actress).
